I watch Mission Control: The Unsung Hero’s Of Apollo
By June 1966, the control center at Huston was ready for it first mission. The three men who flew the mission was Gus Grissom , Ed White, roger Chaffee. They put the crew in serious danger because there were exposed wires and not a lot of oxygen. The wires could have caught on fire and it would kill all three of the men. They couldn’t talk to each other from the space craft and mission control so they had to fix the speaker. Next they new there was a fire, people were yelling “FIRE, FIRE!!” They couldn’t do anything about it and everyone was shocked. All three of the men died, and everyone felt guilty and upset because they killed them.
After the fire there were no manned flight for about 20 months. Because of the fire it’s what got them to the moon, it allowed everyone to take a break and think what was wrong with it. Everyone double and triple checked what they did from then on. In 1968, manned flights resumed and in October, Apollo 7 tested the redesigned Command Module and Apollo 8 would fly the lunar Module in earth orbit. They sent a rocker up in to space to orbit the moon that has only flown twice.
